DARLINGTON SCHOOL NAMED IN TOP ONE PERCENT NATIONALLY FOR PUPIL PROGRESS

Corporation Road Community Primary in top one per cent nationally for pupil progress in writing and maths in Y2 and Y6

Corporation Road Community Primary School in Darlington has been named as one of the best in the country for pupil progress, ranking in the top one per cent in England for progress in Years two and six for writing and maths in the latest Government Primary School League tables.

The school is part of Lingfield Education Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust which is based in Darlington and has six schools throughout the area, Teesside and North Yorkshire. Corporation Road Community Primary has also been named in the top six per cent of schools nationally for progress in reading and ranked first out of 30 primary schools in Darlington for progress in Key Stage One and Two for writing and maths.

Ann Pringleton, headteacher at Corporation Road Community Primary School, said: “This is a direct consequence of all the hard work that staff and children have put in and everyone in our community should be very proud of themselves. We also came top in Darlington for progress of disadvantaged pupils and pupils who have English as an additional language. Over 50 per cent of our pupils don’t have English as their first language so this is a fantastic achievement.”

Nick Blackburn, chief executive of Lingfield Education Trust, said: “Our Trust, of which Corporation Road Community Primary is part, aspires to make the biggest difference to children in our schools and give them the very best start in life - these results are a true testament to the hard work of children, Ann and our staff team and the local community. Corporation Road Community Primary School has made amazing progress in a short time.

“Lingfield Education Trust has plans to grow our family of schools and this is a fantastic example of the progress schools which join us can make. We are delighted that Corporation Road Community Primary has been recognised like this and are really excited about seeing further positive progress to come.”

Lingfield Education Trust also recently appointed Mark Dent as its new Schools Improvement Officer and Executive Head of Cambrai Community Primary School in Catterick, which will open in 2019.
